YPN Member Spotlight

YPN Member Spotlight - Tara Allen

YPN Member Tara Allen

This week, during the YPN Membership Drive, we'll be spotlighting YPN member Tara Allen, a real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty. Tara has been a YPN member since 2012, and in her first year as an agent, won International Rookie of the Year for Keller Williams Realty!

1 - Favorite thing to do in Sioux Falls?
My husband and I enjoy taking our daughter, Jayda, and our dog, Oakley, for walks on Sioux Falls' beautiful bike trails. We like to park at 57th & Western and walk over to Sertoma Park to get a little play time in. And we definitely have to take advantage of the beautiful days while we can!

2 - How'd you end up in your current field, and what are you most proud of professionally?
I was looking for more of a challenge, and wanted to work with people face to face, rather than just over the phone (I previously worked in a call center for 5 years). Real Estate was always an intriguing profession to me - the opportunity to build new relationships every day, to help others grow their businesses, and the endless opportunities to give back and make a difference in the community. It only made sense to me to take the leap of faith and become a Real Estate Agent. I put everything I had into it, and with dedication and hard work, I was able to win International Rookie of the Year for Keller Williams Realty. I sold 65 homes in my first year in the business! I was also able to start a yearly Easter Egg Hunt for the kids in our community, a tradition that I will continue for years to come.

3- What are you reading right now?
I am currently reading The 360 Degree LEADER by John C. Maxwell. Becoming a stronger leader is very important to me, and I strive to continually educate myself both personally and professionally.

4 - What's the best piece of advice you've gotten?
That is a tough one, since I've gotten many pieces of advice that are all equally important. I was told at the beginning of my Real Estate Career to create a vision board, and to really understand my "big why". At first that didn't seem as important as it does now, and I finally get it. I believe that we have to dig deep within ourselves to connect our goals with our heart. When you do that, it gives you clarity on why you're doing what you're doing to give you that extra drive to achieve your high goals. Success is 90% mindset, therefore we have to believe in ourselves on a deep level to push through the tough times.

5 - Why did you join YPN, and how has it helped you?
I was looking for a place to be able to meet like-minded, driven young professionals to learn and grow with. YPN has helped me develop personal and professional relationships with people I truly value, and probably wouldn't have otherwise gotten to know if it weren't for the YPN events. I look forward to continually building a network with positive, driven young professionals!
