YPN Focus Workshops are virtual learning opportunities for YPN Members that are held monthly. Join us for part one of this two part Leadership & Influence series! People say that leaders are born, not made. While it is true that some people are born leaders, some leaders are born in the midst of adversity. Often, people who have never had a leadership role will stand up and take the lead when a situation they care about requires it. For example, parenting. When a child arrives, many parents discover leadership abilities they never knew existed until it came time to guide and protect their child(ren). Once a person learns the techniques of true Leadership and Influence, s/he will be able to build the confidence it takes to take the lead. The more experience s/he has acting as a genuine leader, the easier it will become. It is never easy to take the lead, as one will need to make decisions and face challenges, but it can become natural and very rewarding. We’ll start the event off with an informal mixer at 5:00 PM where you have the opportunity to meet each candidate and then we’ll transition to the program at 5:30PM where the candidates have an opportunity to introduce themselves and discuss why they decided to run. YPs Read is a book club for members of the Sioux Falls Young Professionals Network. We will focus on reading Personal and Professional development books. Join us on March 14th! Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail is the 2012 memoir by the American writer, author, and podcaster Cheryl Strayed. The memoir describes Strayed's 1,100-mile hike on the Pacific Crest Trail in 1995 as a journey of self-discovery. "Wild" was also a feature motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon in 2014 based on Strayed's book. This Memoir / Author is in conjunction with the SME: Women In Business event happening on March 22nd - where Cheryl Strayed will be our keynote speaker. Several YPN members are part of SME and on the Women In Business committee and would love to have you join us for this book club and an amazing and powerful event geared towards all women in all stages of their careers / lives.
