This action team plans tours of new projects in town, lines up phenomenal speakers and generally guides the educational elements of YPN while also looking for ways to educate YPN members about current issues in our community and encourage civic participation among young professionals. . If you enjoy brainstorming events that help young professionals develop both personally and professionally then this is the team for you!

Join us for this YPN Focus Workshop. Join us as we learn about Project 437 and the Helpline Center. The 437 Project was born of a passion for bolstering both physical and mental wellness and the often overlooked connection between the two. In 2024, The 437 Project ran 437 miles across the state of South Dakota, raising funds to support the Helpline Center. The Helpline Center is the only accredited suicide crisis center in the state of South Dakota. It serves thousands of people each year by organizing local agency volunteers, and offering hope to individuals with thoughts of suicide. Registration is required! Jeff has been in this role since May 28, 2019, and brings a wealth of experience to the table. His career spans 16 years as Executive Director of the Lincoln and Minnehaha County Economic Development Associations, seven years as State Director of the South Dakota Small Business Development Center, and four years with the City of Sioux Falls. Join us for a seat at the table with Lisa Romkema, CEO of Sioux Empire United Way. Lisa was originally born and raised on a farm near Springfield, South Dakota and her very first job was destasseling corn for a few weeks one summer! She went on to earn a degree in Business/Marketing from Dakota State University. After graduation, she worked for Target as an Executive Team Leader, relocating from Watertown, SD to Fargo, ND, and eventually the Twin Cities, before deciding to move back closer to home. Lisa is well-acquainted with SEUW, having previously served as Campaign Director from 2010 to 2015. She has a successful track record of annual giving campaigns, major giving, and planned giving, with nearly 14 years of experience in fundraising and nonprofit leadership. Now as the CEO, Lisa will be responsible for the overall strategic vision and leadership to a talented professional team, as well as to a dedicated board, community volunteers, agency partners, and organizational stakeholders. Under Beacom's leadership, PREMIER Bankcard has grown to employee over 1500 people in South Dakota serving more than 4 million customers nationwide, making the company the 14th largest issuer of Mastercard credit cards in the country. Beacom has served on the Board of Directors for numerous organizations, including Sanford Health International, Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation, United Way, Dakota State University, Catholic Diocese Foundation, the Catholic Community Foundation for Eastern South Dakota, and the Freedom Scholarship Board. Beacom is a graduate of Dakota State University and has provided three gifts to DSU for the construction of academic, research and athletic facilities.
