Community Connections Tour

In May, we’re going behind the scenes at the places that keep Sioux Falls running. This week, we’re touring the City’s Water Purification Plant. This facility plays a critical role in delivering safe, reliable drinking water to our growing community. Recent upgrades, including the addition of five new filters, have increased filtration capacity to 75 million gallons per day. Alongside the $215 million expansion of the Water Reclamation Facility, the system is built to support both current demand and future growth. The plant operates around the clock, with continuous monitoring to ensure quality and safety.  Registration is required, and space is limited to the first 20 participants. For June’s Community Connection Tour, we are going behind the scenes at 9 Mile Park, a state-of-the-art concrete and asphalt production facility located off Exit 71. This is a unique opportunity to get an inside look at the operations, technology, and processes that keep major infrastructure projects moving in our region. During the tour, participants will learn how the facility’s systems work, how materials are produced, and where these products are being used throughout the community. From roads and parking lots to large-scale development projects, attendees will gain a better understanding of the role 9 Mile Park plays in shaping our area’s growth and development.
