    Our Sioux Falls | Friends of the Big Sioux River

    Join us for June’s Our Sioux Falls featuring Friends of the Big Sioux River! Friends of the Big Sioux River is dedicated to protecting and restoring the Big Sioux River and its watershed through improved water quality, community education, and conservation efforts. Their work focuses on creating a healthier river system while promoting the environmental, recreational, and economic benefits the river provides to our region. During this event, attendees will learn more about the organization’s mission, current initiatives, and the importance of community partnerships in preserving the Big Sioux River for future generations.     A Seat at the Table with Ryan Austad

    Join us for a Seat at the Table event this June featuring Ryan Austad. Ryan has been playing golf since he was old enough to grip a club.  "My best golf memory is playing the 'ice cream hole' with my dad when I was a kid.  If I scored a 6 or better, we'd go out for a frozen treat following the round," said Austad.  Ryan now has three kids of his own who are starting the game.  Prior to rejoining the Austad's team in 2015, Ryan spent seven years working as a management consultant with Fortune 500 companies.  "While consulting taught me a lot, the golf industry is ultimately where I belong.  We believe in having fun each day while helping people reach their golfing potential.  I wake up each day loving what I do."     YP Gives | Quarterly Service Project

    We're kicking off YP Gives, a new quarterly initiative where YPN partners with Sioux Empire United Way to give back to the Sioux Falls community through hands-on volunteering. This quarter, we're heading to Feeding South Dakota; the state's largest hunger-relief organization, working to end hunger across all 66 counties, from metro areas to rural communities and Native American Reservations.     For June’s Community Connection Tour, we are going behind the scenes at 9 Mile Park, a state-of-the-art concrete and asphalt production facility located off Exit 71. This is a unique opportunity to get an inside look at the operations, technology, and processes that keep major infrastructure projects moving in our region. During the tour, participants will learn how the facility’s systems work, how materials are produced, and where these products are being used throughout the community. From roads and parking lots to large-scale development projects, attendees will gain a better understanding of the role 9 Mile Park plays in shaping our area’s growth and development. As part of a national network of outdoor performance venues, Levitt at the Falls hosts 50 free professional concerts each summer, bringing people together through live, outdoor music. Known to many as "Cindi J," she is passionate about connecting people, supporting the Sioux Falls business community and sharing the lessons she has learned throughout her career. We’ll provide conversation prompts to help break the ice, so whether you’re a networking pro or attending your first YPN event, you’ll have an easy way to get the conversation started.     We're continuing YP Gives, our quarterly initiative where YPN partners with Sioux Empire United Way to give back to the Sioux Falls community through hands-on volunteer experiences. This quarter, we are heading to DakotAbilities, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting and empowering people with disabilities through housing, employment opportunities, day programs, advocacy, and more. During this service project, YPN members will spend the morning playing Bingo and building connections with the individuals DakotAbilities serves. Join us for a fun and meaningful opportunity to give back, meet fellow young professionals, and help create a more inclusive community.
